If Heaven Had a Telephone

I live in Florida and I am a local dessert vendor called The Ice Queen. I started writing poetry in elementary school and never thought much about it. I think it has a lot to do with being a hopeless romantic and I'm hypersensitive to other people's emotions, circumstances, relationships and everyt…

If Heaven had a telephone
I'd call you everyday.
To check on you like I used to do
Before you went away.

Whether on my way to work
Or to the grocery store.
You were always just a call away
But now you are no more.

If Heaven had a telephone
I'd call you everyday.
To say "I love you" like I used to do
Before you went away.

No longer will I get your call
Or hear your voice today.
I will forever have your memory
That will never go away.

If Heaven had a telephone
I'd call you everyday.
Complaining like I used to do
When my life was in array.

You always had the best advice
A mother's point of view.
You made sure to always end those calls
With, "I believe in you".

If Heaven had a telephone
I'd call you everyday
And ask me like you used to do
"What's on your list today"

Even when your words were harsh
I knew just what you meant.
Your love will be your legacy
Humility your strength.

If Heaven had a telephone
I would have called that day.
But I heard your voice, "I'll be ok"
The day you went away.
