DEADLY STALKER

I turn 65 on the 31st of January 2022. I love cats, rock music, and horror fiction and poetry

The Deadly Stalker moves through the dark
Looking for lonely wanders to ransack,
Taking their life and possessions also
After he makes a frenzied attack.

The Deadly Stalker comes to a new town
One that he has never travelled before,
Soon he is following in the shadows
Hoping to perform his sinister chore.

The stalker slowly strolls around the town
Looking for any unwary innocents,
People whose nature is far too trusting
Whose lives and money will soon be spent.

He slinks around the guileless streets
Attempting to learn his way around,
Looking up, to peruse the rooftops
Carefully observing both up and down.

He has got a lot of things to learn
Before he can safely start to stalk,
So carefully for a fortnight or so
Throughout the town, he slowly walks.

Then when he knows every street
And every single lane and alleyway,
He decides it is time to get to work
Beneath the half moon's evil rays.

Soon he detects a lone passerby
Strolling u\in the darkness alone,
Perhaps a hapless late-night shopper
Trying to make his way safely home.

But in the dark and awful night
The Deadly Stalker attacks his prey,
Who collapses beneath the stalker's fists
And never lives to see the light of day.
