Dr Cheena Puri, Associate Professor in English has been teaching English Literature and Language to college students since last twenty years. She has also worked as officer on special duty in Rajasthan State Higher Education Council whereby she undertook projects for innovation and excellence in higher education institutes in Rajasthan. Her doctorate thesis is on the British writer and moral philosopher Iris Murdoch where she examines Murdoch’s responses to the crisis of character in fiction and life from a philosophical, moral and literary standpoint. Indian Literature in English, and The Indian Diaspora writers are her other areas of interest. She has to her credit many literary, articles published in National and International Journals along with a collection of poems entitled “Some Reflections of Life”.

    This poem is a recollection of powerful feelings of a child who is wonder struck at the sound and colour and speed of an engine rail and rushes to watch it pass by her childhood home .
