High Eagle’s writing ability has also been successfully recognized and acknowledged by winning the First Place Award, Poetry Society of Texas Annual Statewide contest, in 1983. Later, in 1985, he was chosen among stiff competition as a published author of poetry in a unique poetry anthology book entitled: “From Hide and Horn”. He is listed in Who’s Who In Poetry since 1990. He won the coveted "Pegasus Award", statewide poetry award as most outstanding poet during the 1986 season of "Poetry In The Arts", Austin, Texas, 1986. Nationally, he has received national high honors as a recipient of a prized 1989 Gold Award and a 1990 Silver Award from the World of Poetry. In 2019, he was nominated for Poet Laureate, State of Oklahoma.
