Brayden Utsick

My name is Brayden Utsick, I'm 19 and currently live in Pennsylvania. I use poetry as an outlet for my emotions and to help with my dyslexia. I switch up my style of writing most times but I'm mostly a free verse poet but I've done some Romantic poetry and haikus. My main goal is to make poetry into more of a image that people can see and feel instead of having to look more into it. To be able to have someone feel your happiness or sadness just by reading a couple of stanzas, is amazing to me. I've been writing since I was 14 started with rhyme schemes and I just couldn't keep the energy that I wanted so my sophomore year my English teacher told me "to try free verse." It was a rough start but I wrote a poem called "asylum seeker" it described a man in a mental prison but the environment around him was getting darker and more twisted making the writing more intense. It was the start of me using my writing to mold my thoughts like clay in a sense.
