The son of a well-known Urdu poet, I have been fascinated by the idea of atleast one or two collections of Urdu poems to be published. An India born American, I retain a love for poetry inherited from my dad. Urdu is one of the world languages that have a direct rise from the heart. It is more music than prose, and this love translates easily to other languages. The combination of English and Urdu gives us a unique harmony and cultural finesse. It has been easy for me to be an English poet of some rank. At age 91, I feel I have the best grooming to be able to avail a synthesis of not only the two best world languages but also a fusion of two different civilizations. It is a happy life that has been granted to me as I avail the climatic contrast and have, as the saying goes, the best of both worlds. I believe Urdu is the best fount for advancement in English. My first published book of poems is a slim volume titled - 'From My Heart to Yours' that has gained a good footing in the western world also. My wife of 71 years has been of great support to me and I am both glad and proud that we have never had any difference of opinion on any issue and my poems reflect the harmony that exists between us.
