Jacob "Sufferance" Bowen

I'm a 30-year old who suffers from Schizophrenia. Suffers, being the keyword. I am a tortured soul. I'm plagued with substance dependence and mental illness, which is also known as a dual diagnosis.Poetry was soothing when I was beginning to hit rock bottom. I felt as if I was at the end of my rope. Then, the first poem I posted here, "Auburn Diminishes", ranked first in the daily contest! This lifted my spirits and gave me a new lease on life. Since then, I've written more and will continue to write, study and hone my artistic abilities by including poetry in every aspect of my life.My hobbies include spending time with the girlfriend, video games, and last but not least, music! My favorite genre is punk rock but can appreciate most music (not all songs) and every genre. My girlfriend said I probably obtained my natural ear from hip-hop. I didn't know what a meter was before attempting my first Shakespearean sonnet and still somehow won a contest with "Auburn Diminishes".
