The Trail

Two eyes
     watched me walk a road
     once and twice and more
Those two eyes
    asked two feet to follow
    pricked and hurt..oh..no
Those two eyes
saw the pain in the mirror
my face that owned it all
Those two eyes
    saw through lines that sprung
    rolling tears or stretched lips
Those two eyes
batted the lids shut and wide
awed me just by cloning the lines

Your two eyes
   watched me walk a road
   once and twice and more
dear little one, I know well
you are the trail and I did it all !
