Let it Roll Down Your Cheeks

Kaushik Ghosh 1979 (Calcutta)

Wipe it not!
Let it roll down your cheeks.
Let it get down through your cheeks
To the neck and down further
Till the saline droplet loses all its volume
And disappears finally to your chest.

Wipe it not
Thinking it to be tear
For it is but your mountain of sorrow
Molten down.
Till this time it stood still upon your mind,
It stood still for long – I know!
You know it too. We all know.
Now that it has melted, let it flow!
Let it come to your eyes,
Let it dry out there but –
Wipe it not!

Let it roll down to your chest
And let it disappear there.
Let it sink in back to you –
Till the mountain is up again.
