Shipwrecked poem

I commissioned me a poem
words gushing as I wrote
but the theme was sad and heavy
and it struggle to stay afloat

It bobbed across the page
in emotions did it twirl
and ran the risk of sinking
as the tale did unfurl

Treacherously it sailed
towards the rocks of despair
and with a crash there it splintered
water-soaked and bare

My heart too was broken
as I raised that shipwrecked poem
and shed salty tears
as I carried it back home
