The River

Greg Lanier 1962 (Atlanta, GA)

There’s a river
Passing slowly,
Don’t know no rainbows.
The wind blows,
Birds calling,
Following fish to the sea;
The river reminds me of me.

Trees are swayin’,
Children playin’,
Thought I heard them callin’ my name.
Forgotten games; I’m falling,
Falling for dreams I can’t see,
Following fish to the sea;
The river reminds me of me.

There’s a river
Passing slowly,
Don’t know no rainbows.
