It’s Only Words

Greg Lanier 1962 (Atlanta, GA)

Ink and pulp and chemical impulses
Streaming from that oft analyzed region;
The void filled by sight and sound and taste and feel and smell

Words - triggered by the most insignificant catalyst
Driving, pushing, burning, yearning to be freed
As that magical moment
When a new emptiness invades our world
Thrusting from the black-holed regions
Absorbing everything in its path

Words

“You’re so cerebral, so deep,” she says.

But the language is Latin and she only speaks Hebrew

“What makes you think of these things?”

I don’t know…
The heavens open and channel divine thought to my genius.

“You must be a genius.”

I must be.

“Are you a genius?”

I don’t…well…uh… maybe?
Never really thought about…hmmm…maybe
Yes…yes, you could be right.
Maybe that is it!
I AM A GOD!!!

“This one is particularly good.
I can really feel the emotion in it.
The only thing I would change is....”

Change?
Change!
CHANGE!!!!!!
