Leave It At The Curb

Lawrence S. Pertillar 1947 (Connecticut)

It is not listed,
As one of the Ten Commandments.
Nor a sin committed
Documented anywhere.

Those who live to pretend,
To be other than they are not.
Will discover,
Once opened doors to close.
And many begin to lock.

And if those doors that are locked,
Are cemented from bottom to top?
Becoming part of a wall installed.
Without a door to appear,
To had been there at all.

It should be apparent and made clear,
What was done to do...
Had been an intention meant,
That any key to that door...
Once to open with a key to use,
If closed.
Whoever chose,
Not to have a door like before...
Someone has decided,
To also remove the welcome mat.
Printed in bold inviting letters...
'My Home Is Your Home.

Replaced now with a sign that reads:
'Do Not Disturb!
All Garbage Is Left To Leave...
At The Curb.
