... Pretense

I've done it for so long it's now a part of me
Can't tell anyone how I'm really feeling
I don't want to cause any grief.
So I, keep on smiling
So I, keep on trying
Even though it's slowly breaking me

Nobody can hear me when I cry
Nobody can see me when I'm falling
Nobody can help me out of this mess
So I, just have to keep on with the pretend.

Everyday I have a smile, a choreographed laugh
To help tell the lies, of me being alright.
Time and time again, I wanna slip up and fall
Because letting go is easier than holding on.

I'm tired of waking up, and hearing bad news,
Tired of seeing my family stressing, and me being a stress too.
Tired of getting called an idiot and a fool
Tired of questioning my worth, and being confused
But I have to hold on
Because I love my family, my friends, and my pets too

So I, keep on smiling
So I, keep on trying
Even though it's slowly breaking me

Nobody can hear me when I cry
Nobody can see me when I'm falling
Nobody can help me out of this mess
So I, just have to keep on with the pretend.
