All in a Day's Work

Daily we crush killjoy’s upsurge,
Until through vicissitudes we sail.

Spirits, repressed emotions, emerge.
When did we find the holy grail?

Reason rests while passions surge,
Forgetting daily chores and mail.

Personal opinions may diverge.
A jaded elder somewhat frail.

Dinner then a movie. What a splurge!
Intemperance we must curtail.

Finally mind and soma merge,
As we catch cool summer’s gale.

Horizon and sky at sunset converge.
A heart of gold shall prevail.
