Looking Below

Chindo Marshal 1999 (Kaduna state)

I see people with different nature
Each with his own day job
In them all kinds of youthful behaviors
I see people who are to be low

High above the zenith
And those to be high
Been overthroned and crushed beneath
With all sorts of clumsy noise

Said the supposed low.
My ways are clear and white
My lines are straight like light.
In pity, I nod.

But how can my intervention be made possible?
That a question keeps ringing.
I see Princes and Kings
Serving servants who should hail them

I see Princesses and Queens
Working as maids
To those who should answer your majesty.
I see jugganauts below.

And illiterates above.
I see clergymen in bars.
And drunkards in worship centers.
I see truth in bars
And liars and chameleons in worship centers.

I see dogs conquering lions.
And cats defeating tigers.
I see rats chasing cats.
Who then will watch over the jungle?

Who will settle our disputes?
When even the eagle
I see wandering beneath in timidity.
Which lamb will the land fit?
