Bitter Tears

Joni Spearman 1976 (Ga)

As I lay in the bed and contemplate all the mistakes I have created and the love I have given the wrong people, I struggle to sleep another night and wake up to no pain.

As another day arises and morning sun seeps through the window, the pain is still there deep in my heart.

As I put on a smile and carry on, it's so hard to stay unruffled and hold back the tears.

The tears long to flow hard as rain running off a tin roof, but the courage to keep them encompassed is so arduous.

The pain has transformed into anger and bitterness has trickled in like a Phoenix full of fire lingering to burst.

Revenge is on my heart in front of the love it once held waiting to be set free like the fire from a dragon’s breath.
