Like Leaves in Autumn Wind

Some days, alas, feel like they'll never end.
Some nights seem like the dawn will never show.
It feels that time's a foe and night a friend;
but this is true, as all will come to know.

For years go by like leaves in autumn wind;
and yesterdays are moments ever lost.
Once gone, time's fabric's hopeless then to mend.
Though days feel long, the years are tempest tossed.

In youth, we think that life will never cease;
but when we're old, we wonder where time went.
We feel regret as days on Earth decrease
and rue the days we wasted and misspent.

It's then we pray for reasons to rejoice,
and hope in death, we'll hear an angel's voice.
