Freedoms Cup

A nation forged bravely in tyranny's face
Two hundred years history, firmly in place
A union imperfect, though boldly defined
The flaws of its freedoms exposed over time
It's glorious fruit, snatched by leaders unchecked
While spilled blood of patriots bare little respect
Promised equality provided to few
Those fattened by freedom, more wealth they accrue
With progresses bounty, a need to expand
As roots of its keepers stripped free from its land
With time and prosperity, glory and might
Its freedom fed forcefully to lands not in sight
Insatiable appetite, its currencies taste
Each failure a reset, no punishments faced
A nation divided, by covert design
A cycle of servitude, its people in line
Through plight and dependency, its leaders maintain
A cloud of supremacy through citizens pain
Though far from perfection, splintered its core
A chance for redemption for those wanting more
Its ours for the taking, through ballot and will
A sworn obligation, freedoms cup we refill
