Fortune favors the sold

Fortune favors the sold. the ones who put their dignity up for Sale. who couldn’t help but fucking roll.

and show their bellies. for the opportunity to get ahead. in a world so cold.

to bask in good tidings. forever comfortable, yet forever controlled. an asterisk by every accomplishment.

that should at one time have favored the bold. but now is more likely to be granted to those who fucking fold. as for those who know to question?

they all to often get trolled. as trying to upend a system. long corrupted by blood money and fools gold. it’s any wonder it hasn’t collapsed out of control.

in to a despairing chaos. that swallows our society whole. but I doubt the violence will ever take that much of a toll.

because humans are easily satiated. give them a distraction. and they’ll do nothing as the enemy strolls.

pass their inner defenses.  and you won’t even realize what they stole. because they give with one hand. And the trinkets given sends the normal man into a lull.

unaware that with the other hand it grasps firmly on something you didn’t know you needed. until you realize you’re not quite whole.
