Living A Lie!

All my adult life I have been living a lie,
For a long time, I have held back and asked myself why,
Not doing what I want, so others would be glad,
Pretending to be happy when I was really sad,
The grief that it has caused me has taken its toll,
Now that I'm older I am more bitter and cold,
I have tried to say what's in my heart,
But each time I speak out it doesn't sound so very smart,
Others say I am selfish and only care about me,
They never realize what I have given up you see,
So much of what I have done has not been true to life,
I have sacrificed so much for my children and my wife,
Now I only wonder just how my life will be,
Will I ever turn it around or Live The Lie until I am free.
