No, All Men Are Not The Same

Ruchika Mohata 1995 (West Bengal)

Think one hundred times before you publicly declare your suspicion,
Because of a few rogues, you can’t hold all men responsible for molestation.
Why do you forget the ones standing behind you in public bus,
To avoid inappropriate touches for you, amidst the crowded fuss?

And the ones who move to the side of the traffic when you’re at a crossroad?
You never asked them to do so, but about these guys, you never hoard.
And the ones who wait outdoors before you enter your home,
They didn’t need to do this; they could have left you alone.

No, they don’t need to get up and offer you a bus seat, don’t judge their chivalry for this,
Maybe, as much as you are, they are returning after a bad and hectic day at office.
If boys need to keep in mind, they have got sisters and a mother,
Even you have to remember about your brothers and your father.

Dear girls, the world is not such a good place and you have to look out for your safety,
I am not asking you to wait till things go wrong, but before blaming, please show some sanity.
These blames aren’t just simple words said, they leave strong impressions on their image,
They’ll think before helping again, they were innocent, but now they’ll be in their cage.
