A soldier's shoulder

i dress myself in combat clothes for i know there is a war going on outside. besides that i am armed with the ammunition to fight off the insurgents that pretend to be on my side but wish i would die. my soul is guarded like the gold in fort knox. i hear the gun shots pop pop pop. another love is lost and at what cost so send the shell of the man back to his homeland and try to explain to his family the things they cant understand. but the fight must go on i carry the burden on my shoulders because i am the soldier that must stay on the frontline don't shoot til you see the whites of their eyes. who decides who the enemy is. i will not attack an innocent heart but those that try to to do me harm shall get the g.i. issued drum round of a heart that will always pound for rightousness and bliss. the war will not end until we make ammends and stop kidding each other. i have a few brothers in arm so we cover each other because we know its dangerous out there and we need to make sure we make it home to the women we trust to be with the kids. how long can we live in the war zone without stepping on a land mine in my mind we are half way home when we acknowledge that we have to fight the good fight although we may have fright dont let that stop you use it as strength to think i almost brushed this topic of my shoulders and told my Colonel i no longer wanted to be a soldier in this struggle but to my sergeant that kept me in her arms i love you
