The orange roughy

Edward T Medalis 1939 (Detroit Michigan)

Out of the mist on a rainy day
He came to my porch and there he lay
Long orange coat dirty, bloody, and ripped
I ponder why he came to this place
Perhaps my two cats beckoned him here
A water bowl was there so he sipped
He could not even meow he just gave a croak
His eyes were juicy his ears were raw
Tattered and torn and oh so forlorn
What a pitiful site, this old bloke
His left ear bent over from a bite
I gave him food and he ate it up
I was smitten with this old kitten
To survive till now he had to fight
He's afraid of nothing I can see
I'm happy he has taken to me
