The Image

Daryl Bennett 1975 (Illinois)

The darkness of death
Shines ever so bright
as you walk down
The tunnel of light
The gloom and stench
Burning like fire
As you arrive at
The funeral pyre
You look down in
To take a peek
What lies within
Brings a silent shriek
The body lies still
Eyes so bleak
A resemblance to you
You begin to think
Is this a warning
A sign to change
Or just a dream
An unconcious scene
The choice is your own
The decision you make
Don't take to long
The fire won't wait
