Between Teary Eyes

Once I was
the master of
these chariots
that sail upon a
godforsaken sea

Tomorrow might
I retake the
reins and ride
once more into
a rising scarlet sun.

To live,
to die,
to grieve
to cry
all have I known
upon the onyx waters.

Above me in my
Morphean wanderings
soars a singular
marble white dove.

It’s path I follow
mywake it tracks
we spiral to the
heavens above

Finally the thunder
strikes the beast
from the sky
and his ashen
body crumbles
through my cupped palms.

Now aimless and lost
I wander, seeking naught.
Life is to live and
to live is but life.

I needn’t pursue
the phantom white demons,
for the solitary sailor
shall be captain unto
his own mast and sail.

Oft I regret my
lonesome adventures,
but what is life
if not the moments glimpsed
between teary eyes?
