I Hate This Getting Older

The morning trip out for the paper
Found me standing in the yard
A fleeting thought caught in the vapor
As I strained my brain so hard

As I pondered my own quandry
I gave that thought a second chance
Yes I forgot to get my laundry
And put on a pair of pants

Later I'm driving in my pickup
To go and pick up all my clothes
Dirty looks flew from the drivers
Along with some poetic prose
One finger waves with gaps so narrow
Between our cars was paper thin
When asked if I saw the arrow
I said I didn't even see the Indians

There’s the time I lost my glasses
I searched all the highs and lows
Interrogated the masses
‘Til I found them on my nose

And when I forgot her birthday
And she found me at the bar
A beer I was a nursin',
When she gave me a cursin'
My response was "And you are?”.

Well I hate this getting older
Sometimes it makes me want to cry
Yes I hate this getting older
I just can't remember why
