Life Passes Me By

Eugenia Weldy 1980 (Jackson,Ms)

You say life passes
While I’m standing still
Imagine that...

It’s not like I’m oblivious
That my eyes don’t see
I’m not stupid nor blind....

My life passes by
And I’m standing still
The reason why?
Let’s see....

My days spent waiting
For what others may need
My house I barely leave
Because I shouldn’t go
Anywhere if it’s just me....

My days are not my days
Or can’t you see?
My life is dictated
By my entire family

Life passes by
 And I’m standing still
Imagine for one moment
How that makes me feel....

So I’m standing still
Slowly dying inside
While you only see
Barely the surface
Now who is the blind one?

Because you don’t see,
That you are so hard on me
I can barely breathe..

My life is your life
Your thoughts should be mine
Your brain should be my brain
Your way my way
Because mine are wrong
