A Pen Pal’s Challenge

My goodness my goodness
What did you think
That I am a woman of poetic stink?

Sorry I kept you outta your domain
Running funny words all through your brain
I bet your energy surely did drain
And coffee all day you had to obtain.

Friends are special and truly a treasure
They give us much joy, lots of pleasure
And most of all ….. love we can’t measure.

Pen pals … pen pals
All can be fun
We can write for hours and hours
And still not be done.

Sitting and thinking
One word at a time
Trying to make
All of them rhyme

This word is yours
This word is mine
Put them together
Then make them all shine

I am a lady as simple as Jane
A monster of rage when driven insane
As sweet as can be is the woman in me
Living my life as a hippie and free

Love ‘em and leave ‘em
Is not my style
I’m a gal-pal
Hangin’ round for a while

Don’t give me your number
My phone I won’t dial
Til I figure out
What is your style

Barbie, Barbie I won’t be
For much more weight has gained on me
And like this world …. I’m not fat free!!

Thirty or Forty
Certainly not more
Is the extra I carry
When my feet hit the floor

Mirror, Mirror on the wall
It spoke to me and did not fall
Short as I am … never to be tall
These are some features
But NO, not all

I do have some children
I know it to be true
I counted them out
And found only two

One little baby
A grand one she be
My daughter had her
Right in front of me

A brother I have
And sisters are two
The four of us know
The things that I do

This is my story
It’s not very old
Forty-four years
From what I’ve been told

Now that you know me
Show me you’re true
Give me some insight
And truth about you

You have no profile
From what I can see
Are you a male
Or are you a she

Now if you don’t mind
I’m tired of reason
I’m tired of rhyme
I’ve got chores to do
And all of them are mine

A challenge you gave me
What can I say?
To YOU my friend
Have a nice day!!

Don’t strain on words
You want to be said
It’s probably late
And you should be in bed!
