The Trellis Path

Like a rose inching it's way along the trellis path
Taking all season to reach it's destination
My path to you takes the same journey
Inching forward to find the perfect ray of sunshine to warm my soul

Each petal holds your smile, and the blush of your cheek
Each vein within it's leaves spells our names
We have grown together you and I
In separate places and times, yet still together

Each dewdrop glistens in the morning light
Like the sparkle in your eyes when you laugh
The gentle sweep of every petal's dimple pales in comparison
To the dimples in your cheeks when you smile

Your gaze when you are focused, Is only matched in intensity
By the brilliance of the sun shining on a fledgling bud
Your look of innocence on your face
Starkly contrasts the devilish radiance in your eyes,
Like a red rose emerging from a snowbank
