Afternoon
Oh, summers, you bring Lotus Eaters in our realms,
The undoing of toil, putting aside turmoil,
The peaceful slumber, vacuous mind,
Putting a halt to the daily grind.
Everyday afternoons,
In the speck of time, a boon.
Maybe read a book or stare at the void,
Navigating through the Android,
Maybe chat-up, play games, or entertain,
Leaving all thoughts in a train,
Setting a journey, to the nevernever land,
As time passed passed like the grains of sand.
Everyday afternoons,
In the speck of time, a boon.
Soap operas for the grannies,
Nappy time for the nannies.
Like the silence of the night,
Slacking off a delight,
Of the Mighty might.
Everyday afternoons,
In the speck of time, a boon.
To bake a cup cake in minutes five,
Or pick a playlist from the hard drive,
Did you just doze off in the office?
Or feel crazy like headbanging in the mosh-pit.
Challenging times to restrain sleep,
At an arms distance, you get a nudge and a beep beep,
The non nonchalant yawn,
Strolling in your imaginary lawn
By the soothing breeze,
Work feels like foot of archilles.
Everyday afternoons,
In the speck of time, a boon.
But what if you have deadlines to reach soon?
Battling the sloth like a warrior,
Goals are to reach the moon,
With no motives ulterior,
Coming out of your cocoon.
Hiking in the country-side,
A poetry time recites,
To unwind and untie,
Humdrum you belie.
