A Song For Lovers!
Glenn Lumb 1952 (Norwich)
A Song For Lovers!(0.00 / 0 votes)
Piano chords, a moving tune,
You can hear a pin drop in the room,
A soulful voice sings sad sung words,
Lyrics of love in every verse,
Mascara runs from female eyes,
Pocket-size tissues to wipe them dry,
The contorted face of the emotional singer,
Hands touching keys with velvet fingers,
Digits professionally moving with ease,
Tinkling the ebonies and ivories,
Giving the piano the 'kiss of life',
Respiratory treatment; musical drive,
A heartbeat of pulses, rhythm and flow,
Affecting the senses tending to show,
High notes sung with intensity,
Goosebumps on arms, weakness at knees,
A wrinkle of a smile as he sings of 'she';
A twinkle in his eye with a come-back plea,
He takes you low where he used to reside,
A dark place where 'crazy' was identified,
Relying on an intake of OTT booze,
Blotting his mind, overriding bad news,
Blinding insight as to where she had gone,
Rediscovering love in verses of song,
Generated fortune revived on stage
In front of an audience currently amazed,
Expressions of engagement encouraged by the tone
He impresses his love for her alone,
A break in the singing, a musical interlude,
Shrewd piano playing which savours the mood,
In comes his voice the audience crave,
A musical-surfer on the crest of a wave,
They yearn for more, every second a gem,
Performing live derives the best of him,
Lost in the zone of the moment, he pangs,
Anguished for love so close at hand,
An awful dilemma, the mind goes blank,
A heartfelt tremor that shakes with angst,
What to do, where to turn, what to actually say?
The faces of listeners express his dismay,
He`s reached them, teaches them how to connect,
Appropriate words give desired effect,
A song for lovers, a plaintive tune
Induces a magical, melancholy mood,
Sing it, it`s yours now, adopt every verse,
The meaningful chorus has your heart immersed!
