High School

Sean^45 2000 (Limpopo)

Still has it engraved into my consciousness,
the dramatic feel of the animosity of lovers,
the touch and the feel of a new dusty book

from a young mind to a decaying one,
they say its the best and the worst time,
the time where promises are broken and kept

the fundamental time which shapes you,
either you become what you want or just you
the time you learn or you earn

but like a fool we hope for the best in beasts
the atrocities of our lives become a bit revealed
love becomes the measure of stupidity

music is brought into a scope of healing,
society the measure of true identification
personality shaped into societal acceptance

the stars become the limit of imagination
those dedicated treated like peasants
and those flexing treated like athletes

we have come to praise those with no prospects
yet shame those who find what they need and want
like morons we think of the earth been just a shape

as the season changes the dream is adjusted
but the dream of a dreamer remains the same
still we settle for less than we actually need

high school drains you of you purpose
it gives you illusions and you could embrace them
or get hung up in what they could be...
