The light rises

Mark Cloutier 1972 (Kaneohe)

The light rises
As the night goes down
And in the air is a sound
That captures the minds
And enslaves the hearts
But we shall break free
As they go away
As a nation of slaves
And the light will rise
And the darkness will flee
Before all of us
As we play the music
Of the word that disturbed
The people that forgot
As we remembered
And recalled in total
And were set free
By the light that rises
In the minds and hearts
Of children of freedom
And a nation that shall fly
Upon an eagles wing
A little at a time
Little by little
In great harmony of minds
