A Letter To My Father

I want to know why!
Never knew you only by name
Were you even aware I'm alive
I didn't ask to be here only to be loved
Things don't always happen according to plan
You departed before you knew me
I dream of you and the relationship we should've had
But all I see is an empty man
With blank expressions and emotions
Staring into a face that isn't there
Reaching out to a ghost who seems vivid
What did I do to shy you away
I was your responsibility
So what's your reason you didn't stay
I needed my father as a growing boy
Now I am older to tell you how I feel
Even today as a man I still required your guidance
I still wonder on the things yet to be revealed
On why your left before I was am adolescent
But I forgive you for leaving even today
Hopeful we are able to connect the correct way
A son needs his father to raise him
Even through his worst of day.
