Dixie Autumn

Greg Roundtree 1961 (Georgia)

I felt the air this morning. An autumn breeze did blow. Then looking at the forest, the trees began to show.
It’s fall down here in Dixie, the leaves in splendor glow, it’s hunting time in Dixie, and all the hunters know.
The bucks they are a rutting, their ancient dance of old. It happens every autumn, Beneath the trees of gold.
