Path to Light

Greg Roundtree 1961 (Georgia)

My life is as a candle, that’s been lit before the wind. Casting its light upon the darkness, as it flickers and it bends.
For against the wind I hold it high, within it’s blowing wrath! To light the way that I might see to stay upon the path.
This path I walk it is my own, from the day of its conception. This I know from looking back with measured deep reflection.
Reflecting back to what was passed, along its winding path. Reveals the roses that I found, and times that I did laugh!
Then within my reflection, I see the treasures missed. Unseen roses that I’ve passed, emotions left un kissed!
I realize at that moment, the path to light makes sense. For within its brilliant golden glow, it holds me in its kiss!
This path does lead from out the dark, and into splendid light. Revealing to all the roses, no more need for candle light!
