For a Turn

James Corsale 1965 (Pittsburgh)

For a turn
We run and climb
Chase a dream
Love being kind

For a turn
We learn a seeking
Approach towards
Life in a large world

For a turn
We escape into sadness
Whims of a short day
In a brief, dark travel

For a turn
We imagine
Smallness of time
Being considerable

For a turn
We strike a chord
Harmonious, happy
And cherished

For a turn
We are still
We are staid
For a turn

And we lie awake
Waiting
A smile on our face
Careful not to move
With a sudden shuddering

We wait for a turn
