I Feel as Though You Hate Me

Samuel Roberts 1954 (Fort Worth)

I feel as though you hate me
It seems to be the case.
Best of love can turn to hate
And love can be erased.

The sun was shining brightly
When first it was we met,
And now I live in darkness,
And mostly in regret.

I don’t know how it happened,
I don’t know when it changed,
Different tone was in your voice
And words and actions strange.

“I don’t know your intentions”
You softly said to me,
I must admit I didn’t know
It’s still a mystery.

You probably don’t hate me
Perhaps don’t cross your mind.
Now I’m left to hate myself
When I need to be so kind.

Samuel Roberts

Samuel Roberts is a noted nobody and a legend for none. He lives a quiet and nondescript life without fanfare. Still, he occasionally likes to write when the notion strikes and has a fancy for cathartic writing. more…
