A Nothing Sound (by Jasmin Jay)

Jasmin Jay 2004 (Riverside California)

I like music, but not that much.

I enjoy the sounds of laughter coming from my friends, but I can go without them.

And I can happily sit for hours listening to the sound of nature pass me by but in all honesty, it brings me no true joy.

But that nothing sound, that sound of true silence
it brings me a beautiful serenity that nothing else can

how funny it is
that the sound of absolute nothing brings me pure glee
yet not that of my loved ones

no people talking, or music playing, or sounds or electronics in the background, just pure unequivocal silence.

Silence brings me a calmness that nothing else will, it lets my mind be still without loud rambunctious thoughts that I cant be rid of in the face of noise.

it allows my imagination to paint pictures that would otherwise be impossible.

The sounds around me influence my thoughts and as such if I want a blank canvas for my ideas I need to be surrounded by the pure noise of nothing.
