Just The Weather

Jasmin Jay 2004 (Riverside California)

I crossed the line,
the shadowy border that
stays frosty this time of year

I was standing,
the sun on my face
bringing great warmth to
my otherwise still, cold body

then I moved
and I crossed the line
into darkness

where the sun doesn't shine,
where the snows still fresh,
where the touch of the ground
to my bare feet makes me numb

then, as I make to cross the line again,
it starts to rain,
it starts to pour,
then, it stops

and I've crossed the line again
and I'm in the sun
and I'm warm
