2020/08/14 ~ Set Free

They say to live with no regrets,
That someday, you'll have to choose
Whether or not to take all Life's bets
And what you've got to lose.
Since when He came and died for me,
He's heard every tear I’ve cried.
When I reach eternity,
My soul will not have died.

When from my chains I was set free,
I knew naught but His love.
When I saw the path to eternity,
I knew I'd win above.
I know someday I'll see His face,
For now, I run this race.
While I try to keep with the pace
I put trust in His grace.

I go around the long black train
That looks so inviting;
I have seen the sin and the pain
That long black train does bring.
When I'm walking through the rain,
Old Satan begins to shout,
"Woman, come and board my train,
I've got you all figured out."

When from my chains I was set free,
I knew naught but His love.
When I saw the path to eternity,
I knew I'd win above.
I know someday I'll see His face,
For now, I run this race.
While I try to keep with the pace
I put trust in His grace.

I respond to that old Tempter,
"This time, vict'ry ain't yours.
You never will be my comforter
And I will never be yours."
As I turn from that long black train,
I feel my Comforter.
I know that even through my pain,
He will be there.

When from my chains I was set free,
I knew naught but His love.
When I saw the path to eternity,
I knew I'd win above.
I know someday I'll see His face,
For now, I run this race.
While I try to keep with the pace
I put trust in His grace.

Now, I watch for that long black train
And say, "Beware" to you.
"When, if, you're overwhelmed by pain,
Just turn to Christ, He's true.
When you cross that finish line,
It will be worth the fight.
He'll call you home when it's time,
Just keep that line in sight.

When from my chains I was set free,
I knew naught but His love.
When I saw the path to eternity,
I knew I'd win above.
I know someday I'll see His face,
For now, I run this race.
While I try to keep with the pace
I put trust in His grace.
