Youth

I am still young:
storyteller time still
has tricks up his sleeves,
his intricacies leading
towards something,
some purpose:
a genius climax,
some impossible apex
that surpasses all
other definitions of happy,
inevitably the time of my life
the one memory captured eternally
when all the others are forgotten.

But I am still young
I enjoy the rising action
and endure that of the falling
forever trusting
that silver-tongued time
has a heroic couplet
waiting for me
at the end
