Your Pretence

I thought you were dead
For that's what you'd said
That you're poised to fall
As the cancer feebly crawled
Eating you alive
Making you agonize
In your sorrows and pain
So you needed again and again
The solace of my arms
Though we were miles apart
So I spent hours on the net
To make you forget
All that beset
So you could get
Your lost will
That's gone when you're ill
But it diminished with days
No matter how much I strained
All night long
But one day you were gone
To get rid of me
For the increasing complexities
You didn't like
Is all I could theorize
But you couldn't understand
My only demand
Was to be close friends
Till my life ends
But don't expect me to drown
Because I am aground
For your ship wasn't too far
You have pushed me too fast
Under the tempting stars
Smiling as I derisively disbar
Your presence and your star
For now I know the way you are
