Your Love
Almond anticipation slipped senses
a coffee coloured jolt as dawn unwrapped
itself from daffodil dreams; delicious
texture on the mind's rolling abstract tongue.
As eyes fluttered open a small bird stood
opposite the casual yawn that spread
a rumour across the face of Wednesday,
it fell as a feather to the basement.
I realised that your letter would arrive,
a trace of a smile disturbed folded wings,
I'd have to run quite quickly if I wished
to catch the delivery of your love.
