Your Last Breathe

I cannot hear soundless voice from your lips.
Your last words of wisdom remain unsaid.
Your eyes wide open,
But seeing only blurred images.
Like a child struggling to make that first step,
You laboured to stay with us.

Shackled, my arms cannot embrace you.
Half of your blood still streaming through my veins,
Yet yours cooling down to a halt.
The abundant air that we used to share,
Gasp as it leaves your body.
Futile attempts to resist echoed in gaggling sound.

Admitting defeat, you let the soul slip out of your body.

My inner self recoiled,
As I sat there rocking at a corner.
As if following your soul to infinity,
My soul lapsed with your departure
