You, I and Jimmy Sunshine! by Rev. Dr. Fred M. Lessonde

You, I and Jimmy Sunshine! by Rev. Dr. Fred M. Lessonde

I remember the Day I Met Jimmy Sunshine

Years ago now walking down a street

I stopped to have get a shoe shine

That is the blessed day I go to meet

A young man named Jimmy Sunshine

Now we had the day off and so I was a walking

Decided to have a shoe shine and do some talking

Met this young shoe shine boy who knew his stuff

Sure knew how to shine shoes and give them a buff

Yet there was much more to this young man

For he was blind and did what he knew he can

Shine them shoes is what I do he told me

For me and for you even though I cannot see

I have to do what I can for me and for mine

Cannot see but my name is Jimmy Sunshine

Shine your shoes and collect my pay

Shine me good so you will come back another day

Now we all have our lot in life and you can see mine

I get up and go to make a living and I do just fine

Mister Jimmy said to me, I do this cause I am free

to make a living and doing just fine you see

I said Jimmy next time I get off I will be back

I will get my shoes shined so you wont lack

That was 40 years ago now, shoe shining is a lost art

Jimmy doesn't shine shoes anymore, he's lost heart

As it is now things are far from fine

It is amazing what has happened over time

I will always remember my friend Jimmy Sunshine

A proud young blind man once quite sublime

Who would have thought our Nation would despise

All those who aspire to work another day, another sunrise

Who would have dreamed the "American Dream" would die

Only the Ones who caused it laugh and do not cry

The hopes, dreams, aspirations of the many in this Nation

Have dissipated and seems to have all gone on Vacation

Drugs, perversion, greed, envy, backstabbing and the whole lot

Seems that is what most have now that is all they have got

My friend Jimmy well he is as old as me and still cannot see

Yet, like me, he can see in his disheartened way how bad its become

For we are no longer self reliant and it is sad what all will be

For going the way its going not much hope for most, only some

The wealthy will get wealthier and the poor just more poor

For greed, cruelty, and deliberate ignorance have seized the day

Our once Proud Nation has been sold out shore to shore

Our Leaders are out of touch and no longer care for our Way

Our Constitution and our Values are considered outdated and Old

People like you, me and Jimmy Sunshine now get the picture

As we lived in a time when things were not so cruel and cold

When people were still people, not treated like animals, for sure

We no longer have a leadership in which God they Trust

We are all viewed as sheep to serve them we must

Better to be like Patrick Henry of old and die for the cause

Than to live under Tyranny and all of its freedom taking Laws

Now that is my take on this whole Treasonous matter

You can sit sadly by and watch your Country actually die

Or you can do what you can to stop the Treacherous Adder

Remember it will soon be too late and it will do no good to cry!
