Yellow Threads

warm, soft, and a cozy yellow
nor a lady, nor a fellow
sown in careful, loving hands
stitched with fuzzy, yellow strands
with it, I'm lit all warm and bright
by my side all day and night
when it came to wash-time, I must confess
without it there, I was a mess
tears streaked down
I wore a frown
Unhappiness gave me my rightful crown
but after it clean,
my eyes would gleam
Soon dried and tired-eyed
my blankie stayed by my side

Through the years
through passions and fears
my blankie's edges grew frayed
but some how it's stayed
still intact, for me to hold
The yellow strands hanging loose
on all four sides
patches coming free of it's knit
from the insides
but though it's seeing it's wear
any less, could I care
A familiar fabric, always held
me and blankie are practically weld
together by time's constant go
but at least I know
that nightmares can't come close
no shadows no monsters no ghosts
can get me when I sleep
as Iong as I have my warm, cozy
yellow blankie, to keep;
