World, Today, Let Me Be.

they say today is the day to do what you need to
but what I need to do is let go of you
it's been difficult without you but I don't need you
after you left I still breathe, sleep, and eat
I still smile and laugh genuinely
roam around peacefully, finally free

so who's the next in line?
now serving heartbreaker number 23
look and tell me what you see
a me that is free, or a free me?
trying to keep it clean but it gets so messy

today I need the world's help
don't hassle me about schoolwork
don't tell me I need to show up for work
don't tell me to slow down on the drinks
don't tell me about what you think
world, today don't let anyone I know yell at me
let my flaws be concealed so I don't have to hear a thing
don't force me to smile fakely and giggle up a storm
don't force me to fit my norm

world, today let me rest in peace
today, understand me
