With Sadness, Hope

Trees outside the window are bare now.
Bitter wind howls, rattling the pane.
Warm days are gone, but not because
the seasons have changed.
Sunshine followed when you left,
taking with it the certainties.
Shining now only in memories of better days,
days gone by,
days past,
never returning.
Thoughts of finding again,
knowing,
loving-
keep strong the sorrowful heart.
